Mike set his guitar down carefully, before slumping on the floor by the bandstand. "I sure wish we hadn't taken that gig at that fancy mansion."

"I know what you mean," Peter conceded. "It wasn't a pretty picture."

"Nah; it was too pretty of a picture. That's the trouble." Mike looked around at the Pad, examining its, by comparison, meager Christmas decorations and efforts. "Nothin' like a painful reminder of how poor we are, on our side of the tracks."

Peter nudged him. "Look at it this way: None of those rich people looked like they were enjoying themselves."
